Welcome back, guys! Today is the 6th video of my video series –Thinking About Divorce or Separation and we are going to talk about reactions that you face after you have taken the decision of separation from your partner. Once you have taken the decision, you have to be content and be happy. Seeing you happy, a lot of people will question your happiness and would want to know that how come a person, who has recently gone through a divorce can look that happy. But do not let that break your spirit. A person who has decided to take control of his life and has decided to move out of something which no longer makes them happy has to be content and satisfied.
I know it’s not an easy process and journey but you have to be happy all the time. There is this stigma attached to divorce especially for South Asian women that if you are a mother in your thirties or forties, your life after the divorce is finished. You must have gone through a certain amount of suffering or pain after you have decided to come out of your marriage. Most people when they meet you after your divorce are going to tell you that they feel sorry for you and even though all these feelings are a result of love and empathy.

I feel we have to stop doing this as a society. If someone has decided to come out of something which no longer makes them happy, why should we feel sorry for them? Infact, we should rather be happy for them and encourage them for taking this brave decision. My advice to all those people who are going through the similar situation as I went, please do not care about what people say and what the world believes you should do. Just believe in yourself and know that you are very brave.
